19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after spring of that year.

Victory also signifies he has won 21 victories at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
